Is tattoo removal painful?
Yup. We won’t lie. But the good news is it only hurts for a few seconds. For a tattoo 5 square inches in size, the whole appointment may take 10 minutes, but the actual treatment only lasts about 30 seconds.
Will I have a scar?
No. Laser tattoo removal done correctly and properly cared for shouldn’t leave any scar. We use the industry’s best laser technology and have over 13 years of experience providing scar-free laser tattoo removal. Take a look at the before and after photos and see for yourself.
How long will it take?
It depends on the tattoo, frequency of treatments, and placement on your body. We’ll leave at least 6 weeks between treatments, but sometimes we recommend waiting longer. Your technician will tell you what’s best for your unique situation. Plus you can take as long of a break between treatments as you’d like. Spacing your appointments out further apart won’t hurt your results.
We space treatments on bonier areas of your body or areas farther away from you heart (like your feet) farther apart. Because of the timing, these take longer to disappear. Tattoos on more central areas or areas with lots of muscular or fatty tissues generally require less time between sessions and are quicker to fade as a result.
Complete clearance of a tattoo typically requires 5 t0 10 appointments, and can take anywhere from 8 to 24 months. Get all the details here.
How do I care for my tattoo after treatment?
The day of your appointment, apply ice packs to the area to prevent soreness and heat blisters. You won’t need any bandages or dressings. No public pools or hot tubs for 3 days after treatment. Keep the area out of direct sunlight for at least 2 months afterwards. If it has to be exposed to the sun, wear protective clothing, a bandage, or use SPF 50 or higher. Other than that, simply keep the area clean and moisturized—you can work out, shower, etc. Most people walk out our door and carry on with their day as usual.
How much will it cost?
When you come in for your free consultation, we’ll give you a quote per treatment and an estimate of the number of treatments needed to remove your ink. Estimate your price here or schedule a consultation to get an exact quote.
Can you remove ink from dark skin tones?
Yup. And we do it very carefully. When treating tattoos on dark skin, it’s possible to cause permanent whitening or darkening. We prevent that by being less aggressive with each treatment, which means the process takes longer. If you want to be extra cautious, keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight for 2 months before your first session and for up to 6 months afterwards.
Note that some colors can’t be removed from dark skin tones without permanent discoloration. When we see you for your consult, we’ll tell you honestly what to expect based on your individual tattoo and skin tone.
How does laser tattoo removal work?
The laser we use produces pulses of light energy that heat up the ink and break it into tiny particles. Your body then flushes the particles out, gradually lightening the appearance of your tattoo. The frequency of light used specifically targets ink, meaning ink particles are broken down, but not the skin itself.
What laser do you use?
Ink-B-Gone has two lasers on deck that are leading the way in tattoo removal and laser beauty treatment technology: the Quanta EVO and the PicoWay.
The Quanta EVO Laser is used exclusively for tattoo removal. It’s ideal for removing black, red, brown, yellow, purple, green, and blue ink. With the addition of the PicoWay Laser, we can now remove an even wider range of ink colors from just about every skin tone out there.
Along with tattoo removal, we use the PicoWay for all of our beauty treatments: Wrinkle Reduction, Rejuvenation Facial, Acne Scar Reduction, Age & Sun Spot Treatment, and Melasma Treatment. The Pico Laser promotes the production of collagen and elastin in the skin, reducing the appearance of lines and pigment irregularities.
We update our technology as needed so we can provide you with the best treatment possible. Get the full scoop here.
What are your credentials?
Certification for performing laser tattoo removal varies by state. Colorado currently doesn’t require any kind of certification or licensing, so be careful who you see for treatment!
It may not be required, but we only hire certified laser technicians anyway. Owner Shelley Novello hand trains each technician and requires that they work under her supervision for at least a year before treating people on their own. Shelley’s such a pro, she even trains practitioners at other clinics.
Over the past 13 years we’ve been in business, we’ve performed over 50,000 treatments on over 19,000 clients. Learn all about our pros here.
