How does laser tattoo removal work?
Step 1
Consultation
Get your free consultation in our clinic or online. Once we see your tattoo and have some info, we’ll give you a quote on cost per session and an estimate on the number of sessions we’ll need to make that ink disappear. Our in-person consults are 30 min—plenty of time to get your first treatment done if you’re ready for it.
During your consult, we’ll give it to you straight. We can remove almost all tattoos, but we’ll always tell you if yours is an exception and why. If we don’t think we can get the results you’re after, we’ll recommend other options, including referrals to pros who can give you a badass cover up.
Step 2
Treatment
During treatment, the laser breaks up your ink into tiny particles. We’re not going to lie, it hurts. The good news is we’re quick and we get results. For a tattoo that’s 5 square inches in size, the appointment may be 10 minutes long but the laser treatment lasts for maybe 30 seconds. You’ll get an ice pack after we’re done to cool the skin down. The next day, you’ll forget you even saw us.
Step 3
Intermission
Keep your tattoo out of the sun for at least 2 months after treatment to avoid discoloration or scarring—cover it with clothing, a bandage, or high SPF sunscreen. Some people prefer to take the summer off so they don’t have to worry about it.
Once the laser’s done its job, your body does the rest of the work, flushing the ink particles out of your system. We wait a minimum of 6 weeks to let your body do it’s thing. We’re not a one size fits all kind of place though, so your certified laser technician might recommend you wait longer. Plus, you have the option of hitting pause any time you want—peacing out for 6 months or a year won’t hurt the process.
Step 4
Repeat
We’ll treat, wait, and repeat until we’ve achieved the result you want. For some people, that means their ink is gone completely. For others, they simply want the piece lightened so they can get something awesome in its place. Depending on the tattoo and frequency of sessions, complete clearance can take anywhere from 8 to 24 months.
Once we’re done, you won’t even have a scar to remember us by.

We’re transparent—just like your tattoo will be.
Truth bomb: not all tattoos can be 100% removed. (If someone tells you otherwise, run.)
You’ll have the best odds of erasing your tattoo at our clinic, but there are some sticky situations even we can’t tackle. If we run into one of them and think full clearance of your tattoo is not possible, we’ll tell you up front. If you’re interested, we can refer you to some incredible artists for a cover-up.
